Do diets make you miserable?

Diets cause a lot of distress for most people. That's why most of us see them as short term solutions. Diets create an experience that is so mired in sacrifice and denial that it's no wonder that we find it difficult to stay the course.

In fact, we end up so miserable that we immediately go back to old behaviors and eat comfort foods just to recover from the pain we have just put ourselves through. Because of the quick weight loss, our bodies are eager to put that weight back on and add a few more pounds for good measure! fitness gal

Breaking the cycle

In order to break the cycle of dieting and gaining it is important to be at peace with who you are right now. I know that sounds lovely in writing. Perhaps your first reaction is, "R-i-i-ght! If I could do that I would have dealt with this problem a long time ago."

You, of course, are correct. Learning to accept yourself may not be an easy journey. It is simple, however. Sometimes the most simple concepts can be the most difficult to internalize. There are things we must learn about ourselves in order to learn to be at peace at this moment.

I encourage you to consider that being okay with yourself right this minute, is a good place to begin. Because if you do not accept yourself, as is, right now, your choices will not inspire you to change. They will foster frustration and the cycle of weight loss/weight gain will continue.

What is Coaching?
